US Universities Vs Singapore Universities

         Well this is the comparision that most people tend to make while applying for their masters in Singapore. Since we have many friends who do their masters in USA we take that as a reference while applying to Universities in Singapore. But let me clear up one thing if you are comparing NUS/NTU with mediocre american universities then let me tell you my friend you cannot be more wrong. NUS/NTU stand equivalent and infact better than most of the TOP Universities in USA and research here is better than most of the universities worldwide if that is one of your concern.

            One of the reasons that make NUS/NTU unique is that they have collaborations with almost all the other top universities in the world ranging from MIT,Stanford,Oxford,cambridge HKUST, Tshingua, IIT's  and what not. Other things that work in their advantage is their funds for research and industry collaborations.

           One of the facts that i would like to state is that NTU is the 3rd most cited university after MIT and stanford when it comes to research. So before you compare any universities know the facts.

Higher Education in Singapore A Bold Decision or a mere Stupidity??

This is the thought that haunted my mind when i chose Singapore over the so called Dreamy US Universities.I have been here for a while now i am about complete my masters and i am really really happy that i took a right decision of coming to Singapore by choosing NTU as my destination.So, for the folks out there who are in a dilemma of whether to go for it or not. Here are my views which you might find useful

 Being from a middle class family and being really attached to my family,friends and my country. It was a really tough decision for folks like me to go for higher education abroad. But for brighter future and better standards of education it's the only hope. So i weighed the important parameters that mattered to me between USA and Singapore.

                                                                                  

• Money- The tuition fee is very very cheap in Singapore in the elite colleges such as NUS/NTU compared to any similar level universities in USA its roughly 4-5 five times less than them.
• Research- Best research in the world. NUS and NTU are named as ASIAN MIT and Harvard
• Cost and standard of Living- Its pretty high in singapore whn compared to normal US cities or towns unless its LA or other cities
• Job Opportunities- You perform well you get a job in singapore similar in US but you have to be from elite colleges.
• Pay scale- US payscale is high for engineering jobs compared to Singapore
